This is a ten-week introduction to hand drumming. My mission is to help you learn djembe drumming as fast and as easily as possible. Over the past 25 years I have taught tens of thousands of students across North America, including many people who have gone on to become award-winning musicians. Rhythm is not a mystery; it is not just for a chosen few. Rhythm is inside of you – it is born into every one of us. In this class, I’ll show you how easy it really is to tap into your inner rhythm.

This course teaches you the fundamental hand positions and drum sounds so that you can feel comfortable jamming at home or with friends. The step-by-step lessons will show you the right way to play it correctly. You will rhythms, technique, patterns and grooves, how to improvise, and how to care for your drum. Basically, you will become an instant musician, and get to have fun playing rhythms each week.

You do not need to know anything about drumming before taking this course. In fact, you do not even need a drum. Professional djembe drums are provided for all classes. You will also receive a 30-page guide – “Beginner Djembe Drumming” for your own future reference, and a certificate of completion.
