Join our Cultural Kitchen, a series of free workshops promoting cultural exchange and food literacy within the Fairfield Gonzales community.


Nigeria ~ Ruth Ukpere and Jennifer Okow

This workshop will feature cuisine from Nigeria and hosted by Ruth Ukpere and Jennifer Okow, co-owners of R.J’s Cookhouse. Participants will help prepare and cook a meal organized by Ruth and Jennifer. Enjoy learning how to prepare a meal while engaging in dialogue about traditional Nigerian food practices.

Due to limited kitchen size, we have 12 available spaces for this workshop. With that said we will be cooking to feed 40 mouths, so please invite two friends to join the feast from 7:15 p.m. onwards in the Garry Oak Room.

Please bring a container as there may be leftovers.

Central Mexico ~ Carlos Guzman

This workshop will feature cuisine from Central Mexico, unique to other regions, and be hosted by Carlos Guzman. Participants will help prepare and cook a meal organized by Carlos featuring gorditas, mole verde, and more. Enjoy learning how to prepare a meal while engaging in dialogue about traditional Mexican food practices.

Due to the kitchen size we have 10 spaces available for this workshop. With that said we will be cooking to feed 30 mouths, so please invite two friends to join the feast from 6 p.m. onward in the Garry Oak Room.
